My 72 hour water fast
This last week I have attempted a 7 day water fast. It started out as a planned 2 day fast. I had done a 5 day 2 years ago. I considered bumping it to a 5 day. Then I have decided to settle on 7 days.
I have had several family members look at me like I'm crazy or look concerned about me fasting. There are so many benefits to fasting.
I am fasting to help with chronic back pain and knee pain I have been experiencing for the last 3 weeks which has become unbearable. I am hoping that the fasting will help alleviate the inflammation, ease away the pain, and help encourage the healing in my knee and back. Weight loss will be a bonus. I unfortunately didn't take any before pictures.
This is my journal journey through. Lets see if I can make it.
Wednesday June 25th. The last day I ate. I didn't eat dinner with the kids but I did have a glass of chocolate almond milk around 9 pm.
Day 1.Thursday June26. I weighed myself first thing in thee morning before the real fast kicks in to track any possible weight loss from my vibration plate and I have lost 1.3 lbs. in 3 days. Might not seem like much to many but it felt like a good step in the right direction. I am not hungry yet. I keep finding myself focused on food. I think its because I know I wont be eating. I did find my mouth watering while I watched my loved ones eat. Only drinking tea nd water.
Day 2.Friday June 27. I am pretty hungry. I feel weak and faint. Slightly dizzy. A pinch of Celtic sea salt in a glass of water helps so much with this. Right now I am only drinking tea and water. No sugar or anything in my tea. Weighed myself first thing in the morning and I'm down another 2.8 lbs. making total loss for the week being 4.1 lbs.
Day 3.Saturday June 28. Today I have made it. I am going to wait to eat until dinner time to eat. I don't feel very hungry right now, but I do feel weaker around food like I am going to cave and eat. I don't feel as dizzy or weak as I did yesterday but I still feel it. I weighed myself when I first woke up and I lost another 1.4 lbs. Making my total loss for the fast 4.2 and the total week 5.5. The pain in my knee is practically gone, still clicks but the pain is gone. The back still aches but that will take longer to heal. Overall I am happy with he results, and I am excited to continue on my healing journey.
I plan to begin intermittent fasting after this. Beginning after the fourth of July. I have done intermittent fasting before like the 6/18 method or OMAD. This time I'm going to try for Alternate day fasting where I eat on even days between 9 am and 9 pm. then fast on odd days. I plan to do a 7 day fast in the next few months. I encourage anyone interested in fasting to talk to your doctor or medical professional first.
